Context: The first adaptation of the series. It follows the manga faithfully until the death of Maes Hughes and the introduction of Greed, after which it diverges into a completely original storyline regarding the origins of the Homunculi, Dante, and the nature of alchemy.
Continuation: To see the conclusion of this specific timeline, watch the movie Conqueror of Shamballa. To read the manga's true story, switch to Brotherhood or read from Chapter 30.
Critical Note: Features a darker, more character-driven tone than Brotherhood. The explanation for the Homunculi and the "Gate" is fundamentally different from the source material.
