Context: In an alternate Edo period where aliens called Amanto have taken over, a lazy but skilled former samurai named Gintoki Sakata runs a freelancer business known as Yorozuya. Along with a bespectacled boy named Shinpachi and an alien girl named Kagura, he takes on odd jobs that range from finding lost pets to saving the world.
Continuation: Watch Gintama Season 2 (Gintama'), or start reading Manga Chapter 300.
Critical Note: The first season scrambled a few manga chapters near the end. The anime covers roughly up to chapter 299, but some arcs like the Kabukicho Four Devas Arc (starting Chapter 300) are adapted in the next season. The first two episodes are filler specials to celebrate the anime's broadcast, so it is highly recommended to start watching from episode 3.
Status: Finished.
